How to Donate to Heart of Dixie Akita Rescue

There are several ways to donate to Heart of Dixie Akita Rescue, Inc. One-time donations or regular donations of any amount are welcome, and are tremendously appreciated. Some donating ideas:

Yard Sales: Sell your extra items and donate a portion to rescue!

Percentage of sales - Are you a breeder? A regular seller on eBay© or sell merchandise on a regular basis? If so, please consider donating a percentage of your sales to Heart of Dixie Akita Rescue, Inc.!

Trying to quit smoking? - One incentive is to take the money you would be spending on cigarettes and donate it! A woman who did this paid for more than 10 spays or neuters a year, which saved the lives of thousands of dogs.

Pet supplies - There are some things we go through and need more of on a regular basis, which include leashes, collars, bowls, crates, toys, and treats. If you have any to share or spare, these can be mailed or sent via Fed Ex or UPS to the address at the bottom of the page. Please do not send donated items to P. O. Box 806, if using Fed Ex or UPS, as they will not deliver to postal boxes. Small items can be shipped by any method, large and bulky packages should go via Fed Ex, UPS or other package delivery service.

Money - Of course, nothing is more universally useful than money. Money is used to cover the operational costs for the organization, and the medical and feeding costs of our foster dogs. There are several options to donating money:

Gift Certificates - to places like WalMart or PetsMart. These can be mailed to HOD at the P.O. Box below.

Affiliates Program - Another way you can donate is to support our Affiliates Program.

Time and skills - Even if you’re not able to help with the ‘hands-on’ part of rescue, there are many tasks crucial to the survival of HOD that you could help us with. We can always use people versed in publishing and general communications, and need people with creative ideas geared towards fundraising and public relations. People who are knowledgeable in Akita behavior could help evaluate Akitas and do home visits. If you have a vehicle and driver’s license, you could help with transporting Akitas. Something as simple as being a contact for your local shelter is a tremendous help. Taking cards to the area veterinarians and pet stores, setting up a booth at the local doggie carnival or county fair, etc., provide great exposure for HOD. There is no skill too small or ability too slight that we cannot use it to better the lives of these Akitas we are helping. If you want to help us help needy Akitas, please contact Rachel Peeples, DVM. or your local area contact, whose name and contact information can be found on the Contact Us page.

Thank You - Please know that every donation, no matter how small, is received with our sincere gratitude for your generosity. On behalf of homeless Akitas everywhere, thank you.
